Logistics abilities aside, we all know that this thing is going to get infinipointed and toasted within weeks. I only hope that loldrama will result.
Originally by: Locke DieDrake If star faction uses this to grief on faction warfare players, it'll be interesting to see the results.
No DDD in Low Sec, so it's really just an oversized Dread with a jump bridge and corporate facilities. No real griefing potential tbh.

Oh I applaud SF for using a Titan with what appears to be almost a roleplaying motive. No doubt. This is a first, unless I'm mistaken.

I wouldn't like to meet the ship that could exert influence over the disorganized masses of FW. The least populous faction numbers around 2,600 plus affiliated non-NPC corps. Also consider that FW has no real purpose other than to give newer players some people to shoot, and to control some plexes that don't have any noteworthy purpose in the broader context of the game, so in other words there's really no reason to ever bother trying to shift the balance of power.
Make no mistake about it, this Titan is for RP purposes only, because that's all that it really CAN be used for. Well that and jumpbridging.
edit: That said, I do hope that CCP puts up some kind of monument at whatever the Titan wreck's final resting place turns out to be, in honor of someone engorging their epeen so mightily in the name of FW and RP.

Originally by: soldieroffortune 258 you konw, i think tbh, titans need to be able to use the siege module or something so they are more useful than warp in and use a super strong smartbomb, becuase honestly, its kinda stupid thats pretty much all its used for
it should have access to the siege module, or something simliar (specifically for the titan)
increases XL turret damage my 4 or 5x, and increases defenseive abilities by like 2x (not to much since titans are f'ing huge any whoo)
A Titan in siege mode might as well just activate its self-destruct sequence. It will never hit anything except stationary objects, and it can't warp or cyno out for the duration of the siege. There's a reason Titans usually carry smartbombs and such in the Highs instead of guns, even without giving up all their tracking to an activate siege mod (if one could be fitted in the first place.)

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 18/09/2008 03:04:26 A Titan in a system where it can't fire a DDD is a beacon for organized pirate outfits. If it entered siege it might pose a danger to other capital ships and POSs, but that's it. And for its price, you could buy a bunch of Dreads that would be FAR, FAR more effective at killing other cap ships and POSs with a superior number of guns. As soon as the Titan entered siege (again assuming you could fit a siege to it) it loses its ability to do anything but tank and hit the slowest targets. Completely pointless.
Originally by: soldieroffortune 258 im not going to lie, i dont konw ALL the mechanics of the siege module, i konw that it increases firepower and defense but cant move at all, but is there a set time a siege module is active for? for #1, #2: titans pretty much become that anyway in fleet battles, lol top speed of at most 100m/sec if that, might as well be stationary
also, if titans could jump out at anytime, how come they never do cyno themselves out when the going gets tough?
I forget how long the siege module is active for, but as long as you have enough Stront you can keep reactivating it. It instantly supergimps your tracking speed (or explosion velocity for citadels) and reduces your max velocity to zero. It does however let you tank quite a bit more damage, but you'll take every hit for full damage since you're sitting still. If an enemy cap fleet came in, you'd be done for if your support fleet isn't packing the DPS to take out the enemy caps. Normally siege mode is only activated when you have superiority on-grid, and a support fleet big enough to dissuade others from jumping in. The siege module is designed for anti-POS work mainly.

That's fair, but remember that even if the Titan could put out the DPS of twenty dreads, twenty dreads still cost half as much as a Titan. This is due in part because you can get away with T2 fitting on a Dread if you're rich enough to replace the ship but not rich enough to go meta 6+. With a Titan on the other hand it pays to go full Deadspace/Officer, because only a minute handful of people in Eve can PvP with a Titan operating under the assumption of "I fly this because I can afford to lose it", so you need to fit it like you're never going to lose it. Or that's my understanding of the philosophy anyway.

Originally by: An Anarchyyt I will now take bets on how long this Titan will actually be logged in, and if it will ever leave POS shields when it does happen to log in.
I'm sure every Star Fraction POS in FW systems will become priority targets by people who don't want to see this Titan POS-sitting happen.

Then CCP can balance a titan around having no DD and remove the game breaking, game killing things for good.
